Adrian Crutchfield is a highly acclaimed saxophonist who has made significant contributions to the world of jazz, funk, and R&B. Born in 1983 in Brevard, North Carolina, Crutchfield showed an early aptitude for music, and began playing saxophone at the age of four.
​
Crutchfield went on to study at the North Carolina School of the Arts, where he developed his skills and gained valuable experience performing with a variety of ensembles. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles, where he quickly established himself as a sought-after session musician, working with artists such as Lionel Richie, CeeLo Green, and Bette Midler.
​
In 2010, Crutchfield joined Prince’s New Power Generation, serving as the band’s lead saxophonist for several years. During his time with the group, he gained a reputation as a highly skilled and versatile musician, blending elements of jazz, funk, and R&B to create a unique sound that set him apart from his peers.
​
In addition to his work as a performer, Crutchfield is also a respected educator, having taught master classes at schools and universities around the world. He is committed to passing on his knowledge and passion for music to the next generation of saxophonists, and is highly regarded by his students and peers alike.
​
Crutchfield is also known for his work as an endorser of saxophone equipment, including mouthpieces, reeds, and ligatures. He is a featured artist with companies such as Theo Wanne, Antigua Winds, Legere, and Music Mentor Group, and his equipment choices reflect his commitment to quality and innovation.

His music is characterized by its technical brilliance, emotional depth, and creative vision, and he is widely regarded as a true master of his instrument. The Jacksonville Jazz Coalition is a separate entity of Phi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Our mission is to increase live jazz events in the Jacksonville, NC community. We are a non-profit organization. Proceeds from this event will be used to fund scholarships for deserving students and to send boys to summer camp.
